H&MS-12 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Keeping the Eagles Flying at Iwakuni
Every sortie MAG-12 has ever flown — from the Philippines to Vietnam to the modern Western Pacific — was made possible by the Marines of H&MS-12. This headquarters and maintenance squadron has been the unsung backbone of Marine aviation in the Pacific for over eight decades. This officially licensed patch honors that vital support mission.
Activated alongside MAG-12 in 1942, H&MS-12 has deployed everywhere the group has fought. During nearly six years in Korea and five years of combat in Vietnam at Chu Lai, the squadron kept MAG-12's aircraft in the fight. After redesignation as MALS-12, the unit continued its mission at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, supporting operations across the Western Pacific and earning multiple Navy Unit Commendations and Meritorious Unit Commendations for exceptional service. Today, the legacy of H&MS-12 lives on through MALS-12, providing aviation logistics to MAG-12's tactical aircraft at America's forward-deployed air base in Japan.
Perfect For:
H&MS-12 and MALS-12 veterans, MAG-12 Marines, MCAS Iwakuni community members, and Marine aviation maintenance heritage collectors.
