H&MS-11 — USMC Embroidered Patch
The Marine Corps' Oldest Squadron
H&MS-11 holds a distinction no other Marine squadron can claim: it is the oldest squadron in the United States Marine Corps. Tracing its lineage back to 1921, this headquarters and maintenance squadron has been the backbone of MAG-11 through every conflict, every deployment, and every evolution of Marine aviation. This officially licensed patch carries over a century of heritage.
Activated in December 1921 as Flight 1, 2nd Air Squadron at Quantico, Virginia, the unit that would become H&MS-11 has been continuously supporting Marine aviation longer than any other squadron. During World War II, the squadron participated in campaigns across the Solomon Islands, New Britain, Peleliu, and the Philippines. In July 1965, H&MS-11 relocated to Da Nang, Vietnam, where it supported 12 different aircraft types and even provided support to Task Force 77 aircraft operating from Yankee Station. Later redesignated as MALS-11, the unit has earned the Secretary of Defense Award for Maintenance Excellence and the Marion Carl Award for outstanding aviation logistics.
Perfect For:
H&MS-11 and MALS-11 veterans, MAG-11 Marines, Marine Corps aviation history enthusiasts, MCAS Miramar personnel, and heritage patch collectors.
