USMC 1st Raider Regiment Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch
Marine Raider Regiment — MARSOC's Combat Edge
The Marine Raider Regiment is the principal combat component of Marine Corps Special Operations Command — the unit that puts Raiders on the ground in the most dangerous and sensitive environments on earth. This patch carries the identity of the regiment that honors the legacy of America's original special operators while writing new chapters of valor every day.
The Marine Raider Regiment (MRR), formerly the Marine Special Operations Regiment, was activated in August 2009 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. On 6 August 2014, the regiment was officially redesignated as the Marine Raider Regiment in honor of the World War II Marine Raiders — Edson's and Carlson's legendary battalions. The regiment consists of a Headquarters Company and three Marine Raider Battalions, each containing four companies of four fourteen-man Marine Special Operations Teams (MSOTs). The regiment's Raiders are drawn primarily from the Force Reconnaissance community and must complete MARSOC's rigorous Assessment and Selection followed by the nine-month Individual Training Course. Since 2007, the regiment has deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific, conducting direct action, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defense, and counterterrorism operations. Through 2019, Marine Raiders earned over 300 valor awards while 43 Raiders gave their lives in training and combat.
Perfect For: Marine Raiders, MARSOC personnel, Force Recon alumni, special operations supporters, and anyone who carries the legacy of the World War II Raiders forward.
Raider Regiment — always faithful, always forward.
