Commander, Task Force 48 (CTF-48) is the United States Navy task-force-level command responsible for the Atlantic Fleet's Naval Construction Force — the Seabees — under US Fleet Forces Command and the broader US Atlantic Fleet (LANTFLT) operational structure. The Naval Construction Force traces its roots to World War II, when Rear Admiral Ben Moreell stood up the Construction Battalions in 1942 to give the Navy a uniformed, armed, and trained force capable of building and defending forward bases in any theater — across every ocean, on every coast — and in every conflict since the Seabees have lived up to their motto "Construimus, Batuimus" ("We Build, We Fight"). CTF-48 directs and sources Naval Mobile Construction Battalions (NMCBs), Underwater Construction Teams (UCTs), Construction Battalion Maintenance Units (CBMUs), and Naval Construction Group staffs to support Combatant Commander tasking — providing horizontal and vertical construction, expeditionary base operating support, contingency repair, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) construction, and theater security cooperation engineering across the European, African, Central, and Southern Command areas of responsibility. The "Force of Choice" tagline reflects the task force's role as the Atlantic Fleet's go-to construction and engineering capability — uniformed, deployable, and ready to build, fight, and rebuild on order. This PVC patch carries the CTF-48 emblem and the Seabee tradition.
