Officially Licensed US Navy VR-57 Conquistadors Squadron Leather Patch - Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 57 (VR-57), Naval Reserve Force, NAS North Island, officially licensed leather patch.
Conquistadors pride, global airlift readiness, and Navy Reserve logistics identity stitched into one enduring piece of squadron heritage.
VR-57 was established at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, in November 1977 and formally commissioned in April 1978. The squadron is a Naval Reserve Force unit of active duty and selected reserve personnel whose mission is around-the-clock, worldwide fleet essential airlift for Navy and Marine Corps commands. Flying the C-9B Skytrain II for more than two decades, the Conquistadors transitioned to the Boeing C-40A Clipper in 2005, giving the squadron superior range and flexibility to move personnel, high-priority cargo, and critical supplies into every theater of operations. The squadron earned the Noel Davis Trophy in 1987 and 1990 for achieving the highest mobilization readiness among Reserve Force squadrons, and was awarded a Navy Unit Commendation for its four-month Desert Shield deployment out of Sembach Air Base, Germany, carrying troops and munitions across Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Arabian Gulf. In October 2023, the Conquistadors reached 200,000 consecutive mishap-free flight hours, a milestone that reflects the discipline and professionalism behind every mission since 1978. This officially licensed leather patch captures that legacy in a durable, collectible format suited for shadow boxes, flight bags, display panels, and reunion keepsakes.
