Pop-A-Smoke Korea Patch — Marine Helicopter Association Korean War Embroidered Patch
Pop-A-Smoke Korea — honoring the Marine helicopter pioneers who invented rotary-wing combat in the mountains of Korea.
This Pop-A-Smoke patch honors the Marine helicopter aircrew who served during the Korean War — the conflict where Marine rotary-wing aviation was born. Marine helicopters in Korea flew observation, medevac, resupply, and the first-ever tactical troop lifts in combat history. VMO-6's HO3S helicopters proved the concept from the Pusan Perimeter to the Chosin Reservoir, and HMR-161's HRS transports validated vertical envelopment with Operations Windmill, Summit, and Bumblebee. By the armistice, Marine helicopters had airlifted over 60,000 troops, 7.5 million pounds of cargo, and evacuated nearly 10,000 wounded — laying the foundation for everything the Marine rotary-wing community became.
Perfect For:
Korean War Marine helicopter veterans, Pop-A-Smoke association members, Marine rotary-wing pioneers, Korean War aviation historians, and vintage helicopter operations patch collectors.
