VMU-3 V-Bat Wing Shoulder Patches — The Phantoms See Everything
Because the future of Marine aviation doesn't need a cockpit — and VMU-3 is proving it.
VMU-3, the Phantoms, is a Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron now operating the MQ-9A Reaper out of MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, under MAG-24 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. Activated in September 2008 at Twentynine Palms, California, the Phantoms deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan where they flew thousands of combat support sorties with RQ-7 Shadows and ScanEagles, providing real-time reconnaissance and surveillance to Marines on the ground. VMU-3 was the first squadron to integrate a laser designator onto the RQ-7B, enabling them to mark targets for destruction — and they won the 2011 Commandant's Aviation Trophy for their outstanding combat performance. This glow-in-the-dark PVC patch represents the V-Bat wing — the future of Marine unmanned aviation.
Perfect For: VMU-3 Phantoms Marines, MQ-9A Reaper operators, 1st MAW unmanned aviation enthusiasts, and anyone who knows the most dangerous thing on the battlefield is the aircraft you can't see or hear.
No pilot. No problem. The Phantoms are always watching.
