Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 561 (VMM-561), the "Pale Horse," operates the MV-22B Osprey as a Marine Corps Reserve tiltrotor squadron. The squadron's ominous callsign reflects the lethal seriousness with which Reserve Marines approach their mission — when the Pale Horse is called to active service, the people on the receiving end know exactly what's coming. VMM-561 trains to active-duty standards and maintains the readiness to deploy and integrate with Marine Expeditionary Forces on short notice.
