Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 165 (Reinforced) (VMM-165 REIN), the White Knights, deployed as the Aviation Combat Element of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. This PVC patch commemorates that deployment, where VMM-165 was augmented with detachments from HMH-462 (CH-53E), HMLA-169 (AH-1Z/UH-1Y), VMA-214 (AV-8B or F-35B), and VMU-1 (RQ-21), creating a self-contained composite aviation force capable of every rotary-wing and fixed-wing mission. The "REIN" designation transforms a single tiltrotor squadron into a complete air wing.
