USS Boxer (CV/CVA/CVS/LPH-21) was an Essex-class aircraft carrier with one of the most versatile service records in Navy history. Originally commissioned as a straight-deck carrier during World War II, Boxer went on to earn eight battle stars during the Korean War, launching combat strikes against enemy positions. She later served as an attack carrier, anti-submarine warfare carrier, and was eventually converted into an amphibious assault ship (LPH-21), carrying Marine helicopters into combat during the Vietnam War. Boxer's remarkable adaptability across multiple roles made her one of the most consequential ships of the Cold War era.
