Officially Licensed USMC VMO-2 Squadron Patch — Marine Observation Squadron 2 Embroidered Patch
The eyes of the division — VMO-2 flew low and slow so the ground Marines knew what was coming.
Marine Observation Squadron 2 (VMO-2) was one of the Marine Corps' original observation and reconnaissance squadrons, providing aerial observation, artillery spotting, forward air control, and armed helicopter escort for ground forces. VMO-2's lineage stretches back to the early days of Marine aviation, and the squadron saw extensive combat in Korea and Vietnam. In Vietnam, VMO-2 flew the UH-1E Huey and OV-10 Bronco in some of the most dangerous missions in the war — visual reconnaissance, helicopter gunship escort, and forward air control over hostile territory. The VMO designation eventually evolved as Marine light attack and observation missions were consolidated into HMLA squadrons, but VMO-2's legacy represents the origins of Marine rotary-wing armed reconnaissance. This patch reproduces the early 1970s squadron design.
Perfect For:
VMO-2 veterans, OV-10 Bronco and UH-1E Huey aviators, Marine observation and light attack aviation historians, Vietnam-era USMC aviators, and legacy squadron patch collectors.
