Officially Licensed USMC VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters Squadron Patch — Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron F/A-18 Hornet Embroidered Patch
Every Marine Hornet pilot starts here. VMFAT-101 is where fighter pilots are made.
VMFAT-101 "Sharpshooters" is the Marine Corps' F/A-18 Hornet Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), responsible for training every Marine aviator who will fly the Hornet in the fleet. Based at MCAS Miramar, San Diego, California, VMFAT-101 takes newly winged naval aviators and trains them to be combat-ready fighter attack pilots through an intensive syllabus of air-to-air combat maneuvering, air-to-ground weapons delivery, carrier qualifications, and tactical intercepts. The Sharpshooters also provide refresher training for experienced pilots transitioning between variants or returning to the cockpit. Since the Marine Corps began receiving F/A-18s in the 1980s, VMFAT-101 has been the gateway to every Marine Hornet squadron in the fleet — making it one of the most important training commands in Marine aviation.
Perfect For:
VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters alumni, Marine F/A-18 Hornet pilots, fleet replacement squadron instructors, MCAS Miramar personnel, and USMC fighter attack aviation patch collectors.
