Marine UH-1E gunships flew escort missions for troop transport helicopters, suppressed enemy fire during landings, and conducted armed reconnaissance across the Vietnamese countryside. This commemorative patch was created by the "Skid Kids" — the tight-knit community of Marine pilots and crew who flew skid-equipped helicopters (UH-1 and AH-1 variants) and built a brotherhood forged in combat.
