Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 (MWSS-372), the "Albatross," is a United States Marine Corps aviation ground support unit responsible for providing the essential services that keep Marine aircraft flying from expeditionary airfields and forward operating bases. MWSS-372 delivers a comprehensive package of airfield services including expeditionary airfield construction and maintenance, aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), weather services, aviation ground support, and base defense.
MWSS units are the unsung heroes of Marine aviation — they build the airfields, fight the fires, fuel the aircraft, control the airspace, and defend the perimeter so that the flying squadrons can focus on their tactical missions. MWSS-372's Albatross Marines are engineers, firefighters, meteorologists, motor transport operators, communication technicians, and security forces all rolled into one versatile squadron. Without MWSS-372 and units like it, Marine aircraft have nowhere to launch, nowhere to land, and no logistical support in the austere expeditionary environments where Marines are called to operate.
