Honoring the gunship that changed Marine aviation forever.

The AH-1 Cobra arrived in Marine service as the Corps' first purpose-built attack helicopter, replacing the armed UH-1E Huey gunships that had served in Vietnam. The Cobra's narrow fuselage, tandem cockpit, and chin-mounted turret gave it a speed, agility, and weapons delivery capability that the Huey gunship simply couldn't match. Over the decades, the Marine Cobra evolved from the single-engine AH-1J SeaCobra through the AH-1T, AH-1W SuperCobra, and ultimately the AH-1Z Viper — each generation more lethal than the last. Created by the Skid Kids community, this officially licensed commemorative patch honors the aircraft and the Marines who have flown it into combat for over fifty years.
