Officially Licensed USMC A-4 Skyhawk Commemorative Patch — Marine Corps Attack Aviation Embroidered Patch
Heinemann's Hot Rod — the compact, rugged attack jet that carried Marine close air support for four decades.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was the workhorse of Marine Corps attack aviation from the late 1950s through the 1990s. Designed by Ed Heinemann at Douglas Aircraft, the A-4 was built to be simple, light, and devastatingly effective — and it delivered on all three counts. Marine A-4 squadrons flew thousands of combat sorties in Vietnam from bases at Chu Lai, Da Nang, and aboard carriers, providing the close air support that grunts on the ground depended on. The Skyhawk also served as the backbone of the Navy's Top Gun adversary program and remained in Marine service with VMA and VMAT squadrons well into the 1990s. Known affectionately as "the Scooter," the A-4 punched far above its weight class throughout its career. This commemorative patch honors every Marine who flew, maintained, or armed the Skyhawk.
Perfect For:
A-4 Skyhawk veterans and enthusiasts, Marine attack aviation alumni, VMA and VMAT squadron Marines, Vietnam-era aviators, and commemorative military aviation patch collectors.
The Scooter. Small jet. Big legacy.
