This shoulder patch represents the integration of VMM-263 REIN with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines — the Ready Battalion — forming the core of a MEU's combat power. The 2/6 Marines are the ground combat element, the Thunder Chickens are the ride, and together they form the tip of the spear that the Commandant deploys when the nation needs a rapid-response force anywhere in the world. This patch was born from a specific deployment pairing, representing the bond between tiltrotor crews and the infantry they carry into the fight.
