Officially Licensed USMC VMAT-203 Hawks Squadron Patches — Where Harrier Pilots Were Made
Every AV-8B Harrier pilot who ever strapped in started here.
VMAT-203 "Hawks" was the Marine Corps' Fleet Replacement Squadron for the AV-8B Harrier II and its predecessor the A-4 Skyhawk — the training unit responsible for taking Marine aviators and turning them into VSTOL (Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) combat pilots. Based at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, VMAT-203 was where newly winged aviators learned the art of hover, vertical landing, and the unique demands of flying a jet that could take off like a helicopter and fight like a fighter-bomber. The Hawks produced every Harrier pilot who flew in Desert Storm, OIF, OEF, and every MEU deployment in between. This officially licensed patch represents the squadron that built the Harrier community from the ground up — and launched it vertically.
Perfect For: VMAT-203 Hawks instructors and students, AV-8B Harrier II community, A-4 Skyhawk veterans, MCAS Cherry Point squadrons, VSTOL aviation enthusiasts, Marine attack aviation veterans, and anyone who learned to hover before they learned to land.
