Officially Licensed USMC VMA-143 Squadron Patch — The Rocket Raiders Live Again
Because a squadron patch designed by the creator of Flash Gordon deserves to fly forever.
VMA-143, the Rocket Raiders, was a Marine reserve attack squadron with a combat legacy stretching from Guadalcanal to Borneo. Originally commissioned in 1942 as VMSB-143, the squadron flew SBD Dauntless dive bombers and TBF Avengers through the Solomon Islands, supported the Bougainville campaign, and provided close air support during the Battle of Okinawa and the Battle of Balikpapan from the escort carrier USS Gilbert Islands. In August 1945, famed comic strip artist Alex Raymond — creator of Flash Gordon — was made an honorary member and designed the squadron's iconic patch, giving them their legendary "Rocket Raiders" nickname. This remake patch was recreated with the help of the Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, representing the era when VMA-143 flew A-4 Skyhawks out of New Orleans.
Perfect For: VMA-143 Rocket Raiders veterans and their families, USMC reserve aviation history enthusiasts, A-4 Skyhawk community members, and anyone who appreciates a patch with Flash Gordon DNA.
Flash Gordon designed it. Marines flew it. Rocket Raiders forever.
