Officially Licensed USMC MALS-13 Black Widows Black Patches — The Maintainers Behind the Mission
Every jet that launches, every bomb that drops — MALS-13 made it happen.
Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 (MALS-13) "Black Widows" is the aviation logistics backbone of Marine Aircraft Group 13, based at MCAS Yuma, Arizona, under the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Commissioned in 1942 as H&S Squadron 13, the Black Widows fought through the Pacific Theater in WWII, deployed to Chu Lai during Vietnam (where they flew TF-9J Cougars and TA-4F Skyhawks as fast FAC aircraft), supported Desert Storm, embarked aboard USS Bonhomme Richard for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and augmented MALS-16 Forward at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. Today, MALS-13 provides the ordnance, maintenance, and logistics support for MAG-13 — the Marine Corps' exclusive all-F-35 MAG — keeping the Lightning IIs and every other platform on the Yuma flight line mission-ready. These black-on-black patches are for the Marines who wrench, load, and fix while the pilots get the glory.
Perfect For: MALS-13 Black Widows Marines past and present, MAG-13 and 3rd MAW maintainers, MCAS Yuma aviation logistics personnel, F-35 maintainers and ordnance techs, and anyone who knows the aircraft doesn't fly without the maintainers.
