Officially Licensed USMC MALS-12 Marauders Sticker — The Pacific's Backbone Since the Solomons

From the jungles of Guadalcanal to the flight line at Iwakuni, the Marauders have kept Marine strike aircraft armed and mission-ready for over eighty years.

Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12 (MALS-12) — the 'Marauders' — traces its lineage to March 1, 1942, when it was activated at San Diego, California, as Headquarters and Services Squadron 12. Assigned to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing that same year, the squadron saw extensive action throughout the Pacific Theater during World War II, participating in campaigns across the Northern Solomons, Leyte, and Luzon. When war broke out on the Korean Peninsula in 1950, the squadron deployed to Wonson, Korea, and distinguished itself during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir and the East Central and Western Front campaigns before redeploying in 1956 to what would become its permanent home — MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. In May 1965, H&MS-12 deployed to Chu Lai and Bien Hoa in the Republic of Vietnam, returning to Iwakuni in 1970 only to redeploy elements back to Bien Hoa from 1972 to January 1973, when MAG-12 became the last American combat aviation unit to withdraw from Vietnam. Redesignated as MALS-12 on October 1, 1988, the Marauders deployed to the Philippines during the 1989 attempted coup and supported Desert Shield and Desert Storm preparations in 1990. Throughout the 1990s, MALS-12 provided ongoing support to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and participated in Exercise Southern Frontier in Australia, executing the largest ordnance off-load in Australia since World War II. Recognized as MALS of the Year in 2012 with the Donald E. Davis Award, the Marauders continue to serve at Iwakuni under MAG-12 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, providing aviation logistics expertise across the Pacific Command area of responsibility. This sticker is for every Marauder who has kept the jets flying from the Western Pacific to the world's toughest operating environments.
