Official HMH-462 Screw Crew UDP 21.2 DET Patches — Heavy Metal Overseas
The Heavy Haulers packed up the 53s, crossed the Pacific, and brought the thunder to Oki.
HMH-462 "Heavy Haulers" — also affectionately known as the "Screw Crew" — is a Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron flying the CH-53E Super Stallion out of MCAS Miramar, California, under MAG-16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Heavy Haulers' history stretches back to World War II, through Vietnam where they deployed to Phu Bai in 1968, and to the evacuation of both Phnom Penh (Operation Eagle Pull) and Saigon (Operation Frequent Wind) in 1975. The squadron also served in Desert Storm and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. This patch commemorates the UDP 21.2 Detachment — the Unit Deployment Program rotation to Okinawa, Japan, where the Heavy Haulers maintained forward-deployed heavy-lift capability across the Indo-Pacific. It's a deployment patch that represents months of hard work, long maintenance hours, and the unique pride of keeping the biggest helicopter in the Marine Corps flying far from home.
Perfect For: HMH-462 Heavy Haulers Marines and veterans, CH-53E Super Stallion community, MCAS Miramar squadrons, UDP Okinawa veterans, 3rd MAW heavy helicopter crews, and anyone who has wrenched on a Shitter at 0300 in the Oki humidity.
HMH-462 Screw Crew — heavy metal, heavy lift, heavy pride.
