Officially Licensed USMC HMM-163 Ridge Runners Sticker - Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163 (HMM-163) officially licensed vinyl sticker honoring the Ridge Runners' seven-decade legacy of assault support, combat rescue, and Pacific theater service.
Ridge Runners identity, earned in typhoon winds and mountain terrain, carried through Vietnam, the CH-46 era, and into the age of the Osprey.
HMM-163 traces its roots to December 1951, when the squadron was formed and assigned to the Air Fleet Marine Force Pacific. The Ridge Runners nickname was earned in 1953 after the unit conducted rescue and relief operations in the mountainous terrain surrounding Hanshin, Japan following a devastating typhoon. That mountain-tested identity followed the squadron into Vietnam, where crews flew the CH-34D out of Soc Trang, Da Nang, Marble Mountain, Hue, Phu Bai, and Quang Tri. During the Battle of Ashau Valley, the squadron flew over 2,000 flight hours in just ten days, rescuing 190 U.S. Army survivors from enemy capture. For that service, HMM-163 earned the Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze stars, the Navy Unit Commendation with two bronze stars, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm streamer. The squadron later transitioned to the CH-46 Sea Knight before trading it for the MV-22B Osprey in 2011, continuing its mission under Marine Aircraft Group 16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Miramar. This officially licensed vinyl sticker captures that unbroken lineage in a durable, display-ready format built for collectors who know the story behind the name.
Perfect For: HMM-163 and VMM-163 veterans, Vietnam-era Marine aviators, CH-34 and CH-46 Sea Knight enthusiasts, MV-22B Osprey crew members, Marine aviation historians, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW supporters, shadow box builders, patch and sticker collectors, reunion displays, deployment keepsakes, and families honoring a Marine who flew with the Ridge Runners across Korea, Vietnam, the Pacific, or the Global War on Terror.
Ridge Runners heritage, officially licensed and built to last as long as the mission it represents.
