USS Standley (CG-32) was a Belknap-class guided-missile cruiser that served the United States Navy during some of the most tense years of the Cold War. Armed with surface-to-air missiles, anti-submarine weapons, and naval guns, Standley provided area air defense and anti-submarine warfare screening for carrier battle groups operating in contested waters. Belknap-class cruisers were the workhorses of the Cold War surface fleet, standing watch in the Mediterranean, Western Pacific, and North Atlantic against the ever-present Soviet naval threat.
