Destroyer Squadron 26 (DESRON 26) is a U.S. Navy destroyer squadron based at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, falling under Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic. The squadron was established in 1950 and saw combat action during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 before relocating from the Pacific to Norfolk as its homeport. During the Vietnam War, DESRON 26 saw combat action with the Pacific Fleet from 1964 to 1970. From 1971 to 1974 the squadron was selected by Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Elmo Zumwalt to test a new manning concept where ships would be manned and commanded by officers one rank junior to those normally assigned — earning DESRON 26 the nickname "The Mod Squad." The squadron has since conducted extensive NATO operations across the Atlantic and Mediterranean and participated in the Global War on Terrorism with multiple deployments. Ships have included Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers like USS Mason (DDG-87). When deployed with a carrier strike group, the DESRON 26 commander serves as a Major Warfare Commander — Composite Warfare Commander and Sea Combat Commander — for the entire formation. DESRON 26 was disestablished in November 2023 and reestablished in January 2026, continuing the lineage. This vinyl sticker carries the Mod Squad colors. Outdoor-grade vinyl.
