Officially Licensed US Navy Carrier Strike Group 5 Patch - Carrier Strike Group 5 (CSG 5 / CARSTRKGRU 5) forward-deployed Indo-Pacific strike force embroidered patch, officially licensed.

The Navy's only continuously forward-deployed carrier strike group, on watch in the Western Pacific every day of the year.

Carrier Strike Group 5 traces its lineage to Carrier Division Five, formed on 25 April 1944 under Rear Admiral Frank D. Wagner aboard USS Wasp and USS Hornet in Pearl Harbor, and later led through twelve months of sustained combat operations across the Western Pacific. The group became permanently forward-deployed in 1973 when USS Midway arrived in Yokosuka, Japan, marking the first time a complete carrier battle group had homeported in a Japanese port. Today CSG 5 remains the sole continuously forward-deployed carrier strike group in the U.S. Navy, operating under the 7th Fleet as Task Force 70 and serving as Theater Strike Warfare Commander for the entire Seventh Fleet area of responsibility. The current flagship, USS George Washington (CVN-73), operates alongside Carrier Air Wing Five and a full complement of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers. The group has answered every major regional contingency from Operation Desert Storm to post-9/11 combat missions, typhoon relief operations in the Philippines, and ongoing deterrence patrols across the Philippine Sea and South China Sea. This embroidered patch captures that unbroken forward presence in a durable, display-ready format suited for any serious Navy collection.

Perfect For: U.S. Navy veterans who served with CSG 5 or aboard any of its assigned ships, Carrier Air Wing Five aircrew and maintainers, 7th Fleet alumni, USS George Washington and USS Ronald Reagan crew members, Navy collectors building Indo-Pacific or forward-deployed naval history displays, shadow box builders, cruise book keepsakes, reunion gifts, and family members who want a clean, officially licensed tribute to the sailors who keep the watch in Yokosuka year-round. It also fits historians and collectors tracking the evolution of American carrier power from World War II Carrier Division Five through the modern strike group era.

Eighty years of forward presence, stitched into one officially licensed patch from the Pacific's most enduring carrier strike group.
