Official U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point) Fly Navy patch.
Acta Non Verba — Kings Point Mariners flying Wings of Gold.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York is one of the five federal service academies, and its Naval Aviation program is the bridge that takes selected Midshipmen from the Long Island Sound to NAS Pensacola and the Wings of Gold. Selection happens during 1/C (senior) year and is entirely voluntary — Midshipmen who win an aviation slot commission as Ensigns in the U.S. Navy or 2nd Lieutenants in the U.S. Marine Corps and report to NAS Pensacola for the same six-week Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API) every fleet aviator endures: engineering, aerodynamics, air navigation, aviation physiology, and water survival. From API the Kings Point grad joins the Naval Air Training Command pipeline at NAS Whiting Field (Florida), NAS Corpus Christi (Texas), or Vance AFB (Oklahoma) for primary in the T-6B Texan II — about 22 weeks of contact, instruments, formation, and aerobatics — then selects into one of the four advanced pipelines: Strike (T-45C at NAS Kingsville or NAS Meridian), Maritime, E-2/C-2, or Rotary (back at NAS Whiting Field). After winging, they report to a Fleet Replacement Squadron and join the Navy/Marine Corps tactical aviation community — all while carrying the Kings Point heritage and the unique Mariner-to-aviator pipeline that has produced fleet pilots, NFOs, and aircrew since World War II. This patch is the Kings Point Naval Aviation calling card.
Perfect For: U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Midshipmen, Kings Point Naval Aviation program selectees, Kings Point alumni serving as Naval Aviators or Naval Flight Officers, USNA and USMMA service-academy fraternity members, and federal service academy heritage collectors.
