Official VMM-363 Red Lions 4th of July Squadron Patch — Independence Day, Tiltrotor Style
Nothing says freedom like fireworks and Ospreys over Hawaii.
VMM-363 "Lucky Red Lions" is a Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron flying the MV-22B Osprey out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay under Marine Aircraft Group 24 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. The Red Lions trace their lineage back to 1952 when HMR-363 was activated at MCAS Santa Ana during the Korean War. In 1953, the unit participated in Operation Desert Rock — the first atomic test to use ground troops. The squadron deployed to Vietnam in 1965 and saw intense combat operations including support during the Tet Offensive. After transitioning from the CH-53D Sea Stallion to the MV-22B Osprey, VMM-363 was reactivated at MCAS Miramar and served three combat deployments to the Central Command area of responsibility with the SPMAGTF-CR-CC before relocating to MCB Hawaii in 2018. This 4th of July patch celebrates America's birthday with Red Lions pride — a patriotic tribute from the squadron that's been fighting for freedom since Eisenhower was in office.
Perfect For: VMM-363 Lucky Red Lions Marines past and present, MV-22 Osprey crews, MCB Hawaii and Kaneohe Bay personnel, MAG-24 squadrons, 4th of July patch collectors, and anyone who celebrates independence with rotors turning.
Red Lions — lucky, lethal, and living aloha.
