This patch commemorates the hail and farewell of the USAF 532nd, 533rd, and 381st Strategic Missile Squadrons, which operated intercontinental ballistic missiles during the Cold War from 1962 to 1986. These were the crews who sat underground in launch control centers, maintaining nuclear deterrence around the clock during the most dangerous period of the atomic age. This patch marks the end of their watch.
