The 4th Reconnaissance Battalion stands as another testament to the reserve component's ability to maintain elite reconnaissance capability within the Marine Corps Reserve force structure. This patch represents reserve Marines who have earned their place in the demanding reconnaissance community.
4th Recon Battalion has served as a reserve reconnaissance unit, providing trained and qualified reconnaissance Marines ready to augment active-duty forces. The battalion's Marines maintain proficiency in amphibious reconnaissance, ground reconnaissance, surveillance, and the specialized skills that define the recon community. Reserve recon Marines train on weekends and during annual exercises, maintaining the physical fitness and tactical proficiency required to operate alongside active component units during mobilization. When called, 4th Recon Marines have deployed to combat zones and performed to the same standard expected of any reconnaissance Marine.
