United States Marine Corps — 2nd Marine Logistics Group (2nd MLG)
The 2nd Marine Logistics Group (2nd MLG) is the combat logistics element of II Marine Expeditionary Force, headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The group traces its lineage to 16 September 1942, when it was activated as the 2nd Service Battalion under the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Elliott, California. The unit was redesignated multiple times — as 2nd Service Regiment, then 2nd Force Service Support Group (2nd FSSG) — before receiving its current designation as 2nd Marine Logistics Group on 1 October 2006 as part of the Marine Corps' organizational restructuring.
During World War II, the 2nd Service Battalion provided logistics support during the brutal campaigns at Tarawa in November 1943, Saipan and Tinian in 1944, and Okinawa in 1945. In the decades since, the group has supported every major Marine Corps operation, from the Korean War to Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where it managed the massive logistics pipeline sustaining Marine forces in the Persian Gulf. During Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, 2nd MLG (then 2nd FSSG) deployed thousands of Marines to provide transportation, supply, maintenance, medical, and engineering support throughout the invasion and stabilization phases.
Today, 2nd MLG provides the full spectrum of combat logistics to II MEF, including supply chain management, maintenance support, engineering operations, medical and dental services, transportation, and explosive ordnance disposal. The group comprises multiple Combat Logistics Battalions, Combat Logistics Regiments, and specialized support units, maintaining readiness for expeditionary deployment across the globe.
Perfect For: 2nd MLG Marines past and present, II MEF personnel, Combat Logistics Battalion members, Camp Lejeune Marines, logistics and supply professionals, and Marine Corps combat service support veterans.
A tribute to the 2nd Marine Logistics Group — sustaining the fight from Tarawa to Fallujah, ensuring II MEF Marines always have what they need to win.
