The 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, is one of the most battle-tested infantry units in the history of the United States military. Assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, the regiment has been in continuous service since 1913 and has fought in every major conflict of the past century. From the Western Front of World War I to the island-hopping campaigns of the Pacific, from the desperate fighting at the Chosin Reservoir to the streets of Hue City in Vietnam, and from the liberation of Kuwait to the Second Battle of Fallujah — the 1st Marines have been there. The regiment has earned the Presidential Unit Citation multiple times, and its Marines have been awarded numerous Medals of Honor.
