The 12th Littoral Combat Team is part of the Marine Corps' transformation under Force Design 2030, the Commandant's initiative to reorganize the Marine Corps for naval expeditionary warfare against peer adversaries in the Indo-Pacific. Littoral combat teams are designed to operate in contested maritime environments, using anti-ship missiles, advanced reconnaissance, and expeditionary logistics to control key maritime terrain. The 12th LCT represents the Marine Corps' future — small, lethal, distributed units that can operate inside an adversary's weapons engagement zone.
