**Official 1st Battalion 11th Marines Hacksaw Battery PVC Patch — USMC Artillery Unit PVC Patch**
1st Battalion, 11th Marines — the "Cannon Cockers" who laid their howitzers flat and fired point-blank into a Chinese battalion at the Chosin Reservoir. When 500 enemy bodies littered the field, the guns were still hot.
1st Battalion, 11th Marines (1/11) is an artillery battalion of the United States Marine Corps stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. Part of the 11th Marine Regiment and the 1st Marine Division, the battalion traces its origins to December 3, 1923, at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Redesignated as 1st Battalion, 11th Marines on September 1, 1940, the unit deployed to Guadalcanal in 1942, provided devastating fire support at Peleliu and Okinawa, and fought through the Korean War — including the legendary breakout from the Chosin Reservoir. In Vietnam, 1/11 operated from Chu Lai, Da Nang, Khe Sanh, and Con Thien from 1966 to 1971. The battalion served in Desert Storm, deployed to Afghanistan's Helmand Province in 2010, and today operates M777A2 155mm howitzers and HIMARS rocket systems as part of Force Design 2030.
