1st Battalion, 11th Marines is an artillery battalion stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, under the 11th Marine Regiment and 1st Marine Division. Activated in September 1940, the "Cannon Cockers" have delivered fire support through WWII's Pacific campaigns, Korea's Chosin Reservoir, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The battalion now operates both M777 howitzers and M142 HIMARS rocket systems.
