Official Kaneohe Bay ATC Patch — Aloha From the Tower
Somebody has to keep the rotors from kissing on the Mokapu flight line.
Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay sits on the Mokapu Peninsula on the windward side of O'ahu, Hawaii — one of the most beautiful duty stations in the entire Department of Defense and also one with a history that runs deep. Originally commissioned as a Navy seaplane base in 1941, NAS Kaneohe Bay was attacked by Japanese aircraft minutes before Pearl Harbor on December 7th. The first Japanese aircraft destroyed in action that day were shot down at Kaneohe, and Aviation Ordnanceman Chief John William Finn earned one of the first Medals of Honor of WWII for his valor during the attack. Today, MCAS Kaneohe Bay is home to Marine Aircraft Group 24, the 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment, and the Navy's Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 2, operating everything from MV-22 Ospreys to P-8 Poseidons off its 7,800-foot runway. The Air Traffic Control tower keeps all of it moving safely through some of the most scenic airspace in the Pacific. This patch honors the controllers who make it happen.
Perfect For: Kaneohe Bay ATC controllers past and present, MCAS Kaneohe Bay personnel, MAG-24 aircrew, anyone who's done a Hawaii tour, and controllers who keep the skies safe with a view that never gets old.
Kaneohe Bay ATC — controlling paradise, one clearance at a time.
