British Royal Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
Per Mare Per Terram — By Sea By Land — Royal Marines
Since 1664, the Royal Marines have been Britain's amphibious warriors — first to fight, last to leave, and feared by every enemy of the Crown from the shores of the Mediterranean to the frozen peaks of the Falklands. This patch represents the oldest marine corps in the world still in active service, a force whose green beret is synonymous with elite military professionalism.
The Royal Marines were established on October 28, 1664, as the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot, making them the oldest naval infantry force in continuous service. Over more than 360 years, Royal Marines have fought in virtually every major British conflict — from the capture of Gibraltar in 1704 to the Normandy landings, the Korean War, the Falklands War, Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Today the Corps operates as part of 3 Commando Brigade, the UK's principal commando formation, with approximately 7,000 personnel trained in mountain, arctic, jungle, and urban warfare. Their motto, "Per Mare Per Terram" — By Sea, By Land — is the oldest motto in the British Armed Forces.
Perfect For: Royal Marines veterans and serving personnel, British military enthusiasts, USMC and allied Marines who have trained alongside Royal Marines, and collectors of international military insignia.
By sea, by land — Royal Marines.
