Argentine Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
Infantería de Marina — Argentine Naval Infantry
From the windswept shores of Patagonia to the contested Falkland Islands, the Argentine Infantería de Marina has served as the amphibious fist of the Argentine Navy for over a century and a half. This patch represents a naval infantry force that saw combat in one of the most significant military operations of the late 20th century and continues to stand as South America's premier marine force.
The Argentine Infantería de Marina was formally established in the 19th century and has grown into one of the most capable marine forces in Latin America. Argentine Marines are most widely known for their role in the 1982 Falklands War (Guerra de las Malvinas), where marine infantry and special forces units participated in the initial seizure of the islands and subsequent defense against the British Task Force. The 5th Marine Infantry Battalion fought tenaciously at the Battle of Goose Green and other engagements. Today the Infantería de Marina maintains approximately 5,500 personnel organized into fleet marine force units, amphibious vehicle battalions, and marine infantry battalions, headquartered at the Baterías naval base near Buenos Aires.
Perfect For: Argentine Marine veterans, Falklands/Malvinas War historians, Latin American military enthusiasts, and collectors of international military insignia.
