USMC 6th Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Sixth Marines — Devil Dogs Since Belleau Wood
The 6th Marine Regiment earned the title "Devil Dogs" in the wheat fields of France in 1918 and has been living up to it ever since. This is a regiment with a World War I combat pedigree that few units in any branch can match, and a modern operational tempo that keeps the tradition alive.
The 6th Marines were activated on July 11, 1917, and deployed to France as part of the legendary 4th Marine Brigade, fighting alongside the 5th Marines at Belleau Wood, Soissons, Saint-Mihiel, Blanc Mont, and the Meuse-Argonne. It was during these campaigns that the Germans reportedly called the Marines "Teufel Hunden" — Devil Dogs. In World War II, the regiment fought at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa as part of the 2nd Marine Division. Based at Camp Lejeune, the 6th Marines have deployed to Beirut, the Dominican Republic, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan, maintaining the regiment's century-old reputation as one of the finest infantry units in the American military.
Perfect For:
Marines who served with 6th Marines, WWI Belleau Wood historians, 2nd MARDIV and Camp Lejeune veterans, Devil Dog heritage enthusiasts, and anyone who traces the Marine Corps' fighting reputation to the trenches of France.
Devil Dogs since 1918 — and the name still fits.
