USMC 6th Marines HQ Battalion WWI Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch
Headquarters Battalion, 6th Marines — The Indianhead Division
This patch carries the Indianhead insignia as worn by the Headquarters Battalion of the 6th Marine Regiment during World War I. Together with the 5th Marines, the 6th Regiment formed the 4th Marine Brigade — the formation that earned the Marines their "Devil Dog" reputation and transformed the Corps from a small naval security force into a national institution.
The 6th Marine Regiment was organized in July 1917 and deployed to France as part of the 4th Marine Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. The regiment's Headquarters Battalion coordinated operations across three rifle battalions and the regimental machine gun company during some of the most intense combat of the Great War. At Belleau Wood, the 6th Marines fought on the right side of the brigade line, attacking into the village of Bouresches and the eastern portion of the wood. The regiment went on to fight at Soissons, Blanc Mont, and the Meuse-Argonne, earning the French Croix de Guerre and Fourragère alongside the 5th Marines.
Perfect For: 6th Marines veterans across all eras, WWI heritage collectors, 2nd Infantry Division enthusiasts, and descendants of the Marines who served with the 4th Brigade in France.
