3rd Light Anti-Aircraft — USMC Embroidered Patch
3rd LAAD — West Coast Ground Air Defense
The 3rd LAAD stands ready at Camp Pendleton, armed with Stinger missiles and modern air defense systems, protecting the MAGTF from the ever-evolving low-altitude air threat. This officially licensed patch represents the Marines who kill the enemy before they can reach their targets.
3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion provides close-in, low-altitude surface-to-air weapons fires in defense of forward combat areas, vital areas, and installations for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Activated on 22 January 1987 from the 3rd FAAD Battery, the battalion has deployed in support of every major Marine operation since Desert Storm. 3rd LAAD Marines operate Stinger missile teams that deploy with Marine Expeditionary Units, infantry battalions, and aviation units, providing the close-in air defense that protects the MAGTF from low-flying aircraft and cruise missiles.
Perfect For:
3rd LAAD veterans and active duty Marines, Stinger gunners, MACG-38 air defense Marines, and Marine ground-based air defense collectors.
3rd LAAD — Low and Lethal.
