3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion — USMC Embroidered Patch
West Coast Missile Defense
The 3rd LAAM Battalion provided the ground-based air defense that protected 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing assets and the I Marine Expeditionary Force from low-altitude air attack. This officially licensed patch represents the Marines who defended the skies from the ground.
The 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion provided low-altitude surface-to-air missile defense for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing on the West Coast. Operating from Camp Pendleton, the battalion's Marines manned surface-to-air missile systems that created a defensive umbrella over critical MAGTF aviation assets, installations, and forward combat areas. The 3rd LAAM Battalion evolved into the 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, which continues the air defense mission today with modern Stinger missile systems and the new Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS).
Perfect For:
3rd LAAM/LAAD veterans, Marine ground-based air defense specialists, MACG-38 personnel, and Marine air defense heritage collectors.
