"Get Some" isn't just a battle cry — it's a way of life for the Dark Horse Marines of 3/5. This patch represents one of the most aggressive and combat-tested infantry battalions in the modern Marine Corps, with a reputation for closing with the enemy and finishing the fight.
3rd Battalion, 5th Marines is based at Camp Pendleton as part of the 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The "Dark Horse" callsign became nationally known following the battalion's 2010 deployment to Sangin District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan — which proved to be one of the costliest single-battalion deployments of the war. But 3/5's combat legacy stretches much further back, through the 5th Marines' storied history at Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, Peleliu, Chosin, and Vietnam. In Iraq, 3/5 was heavily engaged in Al Anbar operations. "Get Some" captures the Dark Horse ethos perfectly — an infantry battalion that doesn't hesitate, doesn't retreat, and doesn't quit.
