USMC 2nd Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Professionals — Always Ready
The 2nd Marine Regiment has been a force in readiness since before the term was coined. From the Philippines to Fallujah, this regiment has answered every call with the professionalism and combat effectiveness that earned them their reputation as one of the Marine Corps' premier infantry units.
The 2nd Marines trace their lineage to 1901, when the first regiment bearing that designation was formed at Cavite in the Philippines from units fresh from the Boxer Rebellion. In World War II, the regiment fought at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa — some of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific. Based at Camp Lejeune as part of the 2nd Marine Division, the regiment served as a force in readiness throughout the Cold War, deploying to Beirut in 1958, the Dominican Republic in 1965, and the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis. As Regimental Combat Team 2, the regiment formed the nucleus of Task Force Tarawa during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, fighting the Battle of Nasiriyah to secure key bridges across the Euphrates River. The regiment has since deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Perfect For:
Marines who served with 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune veterans, Task Force Tarawa members, II MEF personnel, Nasiriyah battle veterans, and anyone connected to the regiment's century-plus legacy of service.
From the Philippines to Fallujah — always a force in readiness.
