USMC 2nd Bn 2nd Marines Warlords Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Warlords — 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines
The Warlords of 2/2 have earned their fearsome nickname through decades of combat that span from the beaches of Tarawa to the mountains of Afghanistan. This patch represents one of the 2nd Marine Division's most deployed and combat-tested infantry battalions.
2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines is based at Camp Lejeune as part of the 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. In World War II, 2/2 spearheaded the assault on Tarawa alongside 3/2 and 2/8, wading through murderous Japanese fire after coral reefs grounded their landing craft — the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Herbert Amey, was killed by machine gun fire before reaching the beach. The battalion fought at Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa, and occupied Nagasaki after the war. In the modern era, the Warlords have deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and participated in NATO exercises across Europe. The battalion earned the Meritorious Unit Citation for operations in Japan and was the first Marine infantry battalion to conduct a force-on-force exercise against the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force.
Perfect For:
2/2 Marines past and present, Tarawa and WWII Pacific veterans, Camp Lejeune Marines, 2nd MARDIV personnel, NATO exercise participants, and anyone who respects the Warlords' legacy.
The Warlords — from Tarawa to today.
