USMC 24th Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima
The 24th Marine Regiment packed a war's worth of combat into just over a year, fighting across four major Pacific campaigns with the 4th Marine Division in some of the most intense amphibious warfare ever conducted. This patch represents a regiment that helped define the Marine Corps' island-hopping strategy.
Activated as part of the 4th Marine Division, the 24th Marines fought in the assault on Roi-Namur in the Marshall Islands in February 1944, followed by the battles of Saipan and Tinian in the Marianas during the summer of 1944. The regiment's final and bloodiest campaign was Iwo Jima in February 1945, where the 4th Division landed alongside the 5th and 3rd Divisions against the most heavily fortified island the Marines had ever encountered. The 24th Marines were deactivated after the war but continued as a reserve regiment until 2013. During that time, reserve Marines of the 24th served in the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Perfect For:
