USMC 22nd Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch

From Eniwetok to Okinawa

The 22nd Marine Regiment earned its place in Marine Corps history through some of the Pacific War's most intense island campaigns, fighting from the Marshall Islands to the final battle at Okinawa. This patch represents a regiment that helped close the ring around Imperial Japan.

The 22nd Marines fought as part of the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade at Eniwetok Atoll in February 1944 and during the recapture of Guam in July 1944. The regiment was then incorporated into the newly formed 6th Marine Division on Guadalcanal in September 1944. At Okinawa, the 22nd Marines spearheaded the division's rapid advance through northern Okinawa before being committed to the savage fighting in the south, including repeated assaults on the deadly Sugar Loaf Hill complex — where Company G was reduced from 215 to just 75 men in a single day. The regiment earned a Presidential Unit Citation for its actions on Okinawa and helped capture the capital city of Naha before the island was secured.

Perfect For:
WWII veterans connected to the 22nd Marines, 6th MARDIV association members, Okinawa and Sugar Loaf historians, Marshall Islands campaign researchers, and anyone who understands the cost of taking fortified islands one ridge at a time.

From Eniwetok to Sugar Loaf — no ridge too steep.
