USMC 1st Bn 3rd Marines Patch — Embroidered Patch
The Lava Dogs — 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines
1st Battalion, 3rd Marines — the "Lava Dogs" — carry the fighting spirit of the Pacific in their DNA. Based in Hawaii and deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific, this battalion has been at the forward edge of Marine Corps operations in the Pacific theater for decades.
1/3 serves as part of the 3rd Marine Regiment and has been based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay. The battalion's nickname, "Lava Dogs," reflects their Hawaiian home and the volcanic terrain they've trained on for decades. In WWII, the 3rd Marines fought at Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima. In the modern era, 1/3 has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, including attachment to the 7th Marine Regiment during Operation Phantom Fury at Fallujah. The battalion brings a unique Pacific perspective to Marine Corps operations, trained for the maritime and island environments that define future conflict in the Indo-Pacific.
Perfect For:
1/3 Marines past and present, Hawaii-based Marines, 3rd Marines regiment personnel, Fallujah veterans, Pacific-focused Marines, and anyone who carries the Lava Dogs' island warrior spirit.
