1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment (1/10) is a direct support artillery battalion assigned to the 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The battalion's motto, "First in the World," reflects both its numerical designation and its tradition of being among the first artillery units to deploy and deliver fires in support of Marine infantry operations. 1/10 provides devastating indirect fire support through the employment of the M777A2 155mm lightweight towed howitzer and precision-guided munitions.
The 10th Marine Regiment traces its lineage to 1 April 1914, making it one of the oldest artillery organizations in the Marine Corps. The regiment and its battalions have served with extraordinary distinction in every major conflict involving the Marine Corps, from World War I through the Global War on Terror. 1st Battalion has provided fire support during the major operations of the 20th and 21st centuries, with its Marines raining steel on enemy positions in support of the 2nd Marine Division's maneuver forces.
