United States Marine Corps Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) is the senior Reserve command of the Marine Corps, headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. MARFORRES commands and oversees all Marine Corps Reserve units, providing trained and organized units and individual Marines to augment and reinforce the active Marine Corps during times of war, national emergency, or when otherwise directed. The Reserve force represents a significant portion of the Marine Corps' total combat capability.
MARFORRES includes the 4th Marine Division, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, 4th Marine Logistics Group, and Force Headquarters Group, encompassing infantry, artillery, armor, aviation, logistics, and combat support units spread across the United States. These Reserve Marines maintain their combat readiness through monthly drill weekends and annual training periods, often deploying alongside active-duty Marines in combat and humanitarian operations. Since 2001, tens of thousands of Marine Reservists have mobilized and deployed in support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations worldwide.
